Kevin De Bruyne’slong awaitedtransfer to Manchester City is ultimately approaching completion after Wolfsburg’s sporting director approved his membership in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad. They settled on a deal with Wolfsburg including an initial€74m (£54m), with extras which could take the total outside the €80m (£58.5m) figure. The only continuing negotiations concern payment structure and a complete medical for De Bruyne. However, the deal has now been confirmed and the finishing touches of the contract should be completed in the next day or two.
An exclusive jet has been standing in readiness since last Wednesday to fly De Bruyne and his agent, Patrick De Koster, to Manchester in order to take his medical. Manchester City is expecting him to be formally proclaimed as their record signing at some stage today. The midfielder from Belgium was photographed in the stands together with De Koster as he observed the match versus Schalke. He is projected to sign a contract that is worth an astounding £14m per season in salary.
When De Bruyne played for Wolfsburg last season, he appeared a total of 51 times. De Bruyne scored 16 times, and assisted an impressive 28 goals. Wolfsburhg are also planning to sell forward Ivan Perisic to Internazionale after the he was absent for the game against Schalke. The German side has also been associated with a transfer for Schalke’s Julian Draxler, who initiated Friday’s match at the Volkswagen Arena.
